Excellent food, live band, and warm Southern vibe packed into a pleasant whiskey bar at the end of the historic strip.

Really enjoyed brunch at the Whiskey Jar. Even we were lucky with the weather and were able to eat outside, the atmosphere inside looks like it would be a fun place to either eat or just hang out.The scrambled eggs were awesome, tasty, and filling. Also enjoyed incredible avocado toast. AND the jar-mosa really hit the spot. The service was friendly and professional.

Excellent selection of whiskey and variety of mixed drinks to satisfy just about anyone. I didn't try the food. Live band was great and the place was packed, but service was still excellent once you were able to reach the bar!

Great southern comfort food. The fried oysters and crunch burger were great recommendations. More whiskey than you can handle! Our waiter Chris gave excellent service and had perfect menu knowledge

Incredible food!! They also have fresh lemonade! I ordered the chicken and dumplings with a ham biscuit. I'm used to a thicker soups having lived in Alabama, but the flavors were still there. I ordered a pork sandwich and it was just amazing. The bourbon infused bread pudding took a while to come out but it was delicious, a little too sweet but delicious!

Check out the happy hour. Great whiskey selection. The BBQ sandwich is very good.

The drink specials were good. Food was amazing. I had the Fired chicken with collard greens. I can't describe how delicious the food was. This is one of my new favorite places to dine in Charlotte's.

Every time I go to Charlottesville, I end up eating brunch or lunch here. I really love their good. Good service. A little of a wait sometimes but worthy.

Went here for brunch and was very happy with the food and atmosphere. The chicken and waffles were amazing. I’m not a big fan of gravy (this dish is smothered with it) but this is the one time I actually loved it with a dish. Highly recommend it. Other brunch options were tasty as well.

Excellent happy hour deals, awesome atmosphere, great service and an extensive selection. If you like peaty scotch get an old fashioned with Laphroaig!

One of the best selections you will find for Whiskey and Bourbon. The food was very good. I had their signature Fried Chicken on maple brown sugar collards. It was excellent. The batter was thick and flaky as it should be but the chicken tender and flavorful. The collards were some of the best I have ever had. The restaurant has two sides, tables only and bar and tables. Bar side is where we sat, a little noisy but what do you expect at a bar. And yup, the wait staff was awesome!

Of the innumerable times I’ve been here (careful, even though it packs a lot into its space it still sometimes gets overcrowded!) I’ve always found delightful the sheer amount of options they serve and the unique character of this place. They are a mix between country and refined, offering hearty dishes as well as fine drinks (of course focusing on whiskies). They have two separate sections with one smaller and more for sit downs and the other bigger and with a bar area, band stage, and tables too. While I no longer live in Charlottesville I still try to stop by this delightful spot when in town.

Visited the area and a local recommended checking out this place, so that was a good sign for starters. It was a busy weekend with DMB shows, so didn't get a chance to eat here, but it smelled fantastic! No surprise, they have a huge selection of whiskey to satisfy all tests and budgets. Ordered drinks from their menu, their whiskey sour and an old fashioned, and both were perfect. They make their own sour mix and muddle with fresh herbs and fruits. Friendly service! Would definitely go back!

Best food on the downtown mall. High quality, fresh ingredients make everything taste amazing. They come up with really uniques combinations for their sandwiches, which makes them a one of a kind place.

Well, with their name, I guess it's expected, but an absolutely fantastic whiskey selection. As in hundreds of different bottles. Every brand you ever heard of and special editions of them you never knew existed. A pour may make you poor though, can run from $-$$$$$$ with your options (some were $200+). Friendly, knowledgeable bartenders that know how to make a drink right, every time.

The food and service was really good. I thought it was a little pricey for lunch-$15 for a French dip sandwich, but it's Charlottesville (I'm from Richmond) and locally sourced, so maybe that justifies the lunch prices. My coworkers got fried chicken on collards and said it was delicious!

A really cool vibe. Fantastic selection of bourbon, scotch, and whiskey that are enjoyable. Also they provide excellent selection of various cocktails for those who may not enjoy the bourbon, whiskey or scotch selection.

This place was incredible - the cocktails were very good, and they have an extensive whiskey list. But the food was fantastic. I had the fried green tomato sandwich, which had crispy pork belly and goat cheese. Best sandwich I've had in a very long time. Service was great and they had live music. Highly recommended.
